Insta-living

What a good looking group, right? That’s me with Veronica, Mitch, and Bobby at the Refinery29 Miami launch party! So happy Veronica has such awesome friends in MIA :-D

I love Refinery and they’ve been so good to me in the past, so I was geeked that they’d release a Miami edition (and throw a banging party) while I’m here.

Outfit shot, before we hit the Refinery Party. Cavalli dress, blazer from Veronica, and Zara shoes.

Yes I know, I am a deer in headlights. But don’t Veronica and Lauren look super cute? (*Picture swiped from Lauren’s blog)

Candy kisses from Mitch. I love this shot.

Candy kisses from my new hubby Bobby.

There was a 3D art exhibit at the Refinery party. So cool.

Step and repeat…fabulous.

Anyone else hit up any good events at Art Basel? Would love to hear about it!

Seeing Doubles (Emergy Edition)

I came across this picture of Angelina Jolie and I couldn’t help but notice it’s striking resemblance to one of the out takes from the Emergy Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook.

Crazy right?

You may or may not have noticed that the Emergy site is down now, I want to change some things up a bit. But I’ve been swamped lately! It’ll be back up soon.

I mentioned this earlier this week, but I’ll be hitting up my first Art Basel event tonight! With that I’ll leave you with a shake and shimmy.

Wishlist Pimpin

THESE shoes right here get me going every single time I see them! Anyone else feel the same? They’re Charlotte Olympia “Dolly” platforms.

It feels appropriate to share them since Christmas is right around the corner, ya know? ‘Tis the season to share all the things I like! Hopefully you like them too :-)

And… I’m Back!

[me…back in July]

Hot damn, I haven’t blogged in 2 weeks! For that I have many things to blame, but who cares about excuses? Not I! In any event, THANK YOU for sticking around and checking back for updates.

This week marks the beginning of Art Basel.

This is the event’s 10th year in Miami and just in case you aren’t familiar with it, here’s a short blurb:

…The most prestigious art show in the Americas. More than 260 leading galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa will take part, showcasing works by more than 2,000 artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Amazing right? I liken it to NY, London, Paris, and Milan Fashion Week all in one “week” for art. I knew when I came down here that Art Basel would be one of the things on my to do list. I’ll be there along with Veronica from Best of Palm Beach Consignment and we’re going to have so much fun! With that, I leave you with a list of events that I’m most excited about on the Art Basel lineup:

R29 Miami Launch

The Refinery29 Miami Launch party, enough said! There’s this vintage Roberto Cavalli minidress that I picked up for the event and I CANNOT wait to wear it.

The Vogue Lounge

This looks awesome, 1. because it’s Vogue 2. because I love branded lounges during special events 3. because it’s Vogue. I know it’s Art Basel, but what is art without a little fashion in the mix? For your fashion fix there’ll be collaborations by Keds, Bond No. 9, and Dee and Ricky!

Music Loves Art

Cool collaboration between Spotify and Ricochet, you can’t go wrong with visual artists, DJs, and performers coming together to mix it up nightly.

Artistically Fashioned

The best of Haitian art, fashion, and interior design for a cause! The event will raise funds for CareOneBit.org. I am all about supporting causes, so this event definitely stood out to me amongst the rest.

Andy Warhol’s San Diego Surf

Interview Mag and the Andy Warhol Museum debut Warhol’s unseen film, San Diego Surf, filmed in 1968. Like many many others, I have a special place in my heart for Andy Warhol and his pieces and I’m curious to see what one of his films would be like.

For the full lineup visit Social Miami.

Fashion and Art Make My World Go ‘Round

Last night I attended Art Nights at Bal Harbour Shops. I had some time to kill before the event kicked off, so I headed to Books & Books to read my Fall/Winter issue of Bal Harbour Magazine with Elettra Wiedemann on the cover

If you have the issue, you’ll see why the Point of No Return editorial was my absolute favorite—rich with the perfect combination of bold colors and luscious jewel tones.

But I digress.

My first stop was Neiman Marcus for the Bal Harbour chat series with Tony Goldman. Being in the presence of the man responsible for reinventing two of my favorite neighborhoods (SoHo in NYC and South Beach in Miami) was nothing short of inspiring! I loved hearing him talk about his art collection and my favorite piece of wisdom he shared regarding collecting artwork that you really connect with was the following:

“Go for what you love. If you want to buy brands come to Neiman Marcus.”

I spent the rest of the night enjoying the general ambiance, which included stops at Elie Tahari to view the Renato Freitas artwork and the St. Regis Lounge for Alejandro Vigilante and Arno Elias (if you love fashion— I know you do since you’re reading my blog, he has the most amazing fashion photography on his website) in conjunction with Avant Gallery.

Here’s some snapshots from the night via my iPhone:

I fell in love with this neon Jil Sander jacket

My favorite piece of the night

All in all, it was an amazing evening! Looking forward to the next one.

Meet Lisa: Toronto’s Coolest Fashion Illustrator

Lisa, illustration extraordinaire and blogger behind Sketch and Pixel, sketched this awesome photo of me! I won the illustration at Blogger’s Night Out during Fashion Week in September and couldn’t be more happy with it! I didn’t have any full outfit pictures of me and my new hair so Lisa combined the “new” me with an old outfit photo. Thanks Lisa!

I could scroll through Lisa’s fashion illustrations for days, my personal favorite is this Burberry one:

Best of all, she also has an Etsy shop!

Check out her blog and let me know what you think.
