#NYFW: Spotted in Essence

Here’s my outfit from 9/9/11 at #NYFW. Taken by Essence Street Style photographer Dario. I’m wearing:

  • Suede dress from Market Publique
  • Necklace from Manifest Manifest
  • Shoes from Steve Madden with a bit of DIY glitter and fabulosity

I’m slowly getting all my coverage together. Can’t wait to post all of the updates!

FW Week Day 2. Quick update just to show you guys my shoes.

Today I’m attending the Emerson, Costello Tagliapietra, and Sally LaPointe shows. Also SO SO excited for Bloggers’ Night Out!!

Fashion Week Kick Off: IFB Con

What is IFB Con? In short it’s the Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference, held every season at the beginning of Fashion Week. Hundreds of bloggers come to NYC just for the occasion and thousands of bloggers from around the globe tune in to the live stream to keep up with the happenings. This year, I’ll be working the event and running around behind the scenes and the lineup this year is amazing!

Tune in below to watch the live stream of the conference at any point today to keep up!

Watch live streaming video from ifbconference at livestream.com

What am I most excited about?

After IFB, the Fashion Week events will continue. I’ll be headed to the KMS California Party, Arrojo 10th Anniversary Party, and the Astonish Magazine Launch Party! It’s going to be a full day and night, but I couldn’t be more excited!

What can you expect here during Fashion Week?

  • My honest opinions of the shows and events I attend
  • Video! I’m going to focus on shooting videos this year, it’s something new for the blog and I think you’ll like it
  • No runway photos (of my own at least, because let’s face it you can all find them easily on Style.com)
  • Fun (and anything else exciting that may happen)!

Stay tuned! I’ve added two new links on my sidebar: a NYFW coverage link and an outfit post link. It’ll make the blog easier to navigate from here on out!

Of course, for real-time updates, follow me on Twitter!

Ready, Set, GO!

Before I start blogging about Fashion Week non-stop for the next 10 days or so, I wanted to recap my weekend getaway. The beach house was WONDERFUL. We beached it, grilled, dined, played at the amusement park, explored, and rode bikes all weekend long. I haven’t been this relaxed in awhile!

My beach ensemble

Nice stranger agreed to take a mini photo shoot of us on the beach, while chanting “work it, work it”. Clearly, that’s what we were laughing at.

My bag from Temi’s Etsy shop. I’ve been carrying this around NON-STOP this entire summer, it’s perfect for the beach, grocery shopping, etc because it holds so much! Check out her selection here, the prints are gorgeous and they’re all so affordable!

The view from the ferris wheel.

More noteables:

  • I tried my very first fried oreo and it was yummy.
  • I discovered the joy of red velvet MUFFINS. Wawa, I love you.
  • I didn’t fall off my bike once. So proud of myself for hopping back on wheels last week! (I went roller skating at the Highline a few days before bike riding)

And the madness begins…

Labor Day Loungin

I’ll be at a friend’s beach house for the long weekend, catching up on some much needed rest and relaxation before the madness that is Fashion Week!

Here’s what I’m looking forward to:

  • Beach time in a similar “retro inspired” ensemble
  • Quality time with the girls, which usually means getting into trouble
  • “Long walks on the beach”. HAHAH Cheesy but OH SO TRUE.

  • Photo shoots with my friends!
  • Cooking breakfast
  • Taking a break from city life.

What do you most look forward to on vacation/getaways?

Doing It

…myself.

(Yes that’s a teensy star tattoo right above my wrist)

I saw this handpiece on Honestly WTF (guest post by Luv AJ) yesterday morning and I went out and bought the materials ASAP because I just knew I had to try it. Now that I’ve got the hang of it, I’m a handpiece making machine lol. I want to try with non-Michael’s materials, I’ll probably deconstruct some vintage jewelry to make it happen again. Head over to Honestly WTF to learn how I made it and if you’re feeling inspired, go ahead and make one of your own!

Happy September!
