Remixing Your Business Attire

Here’s part two of my photo excursion with Jessie. Usually the wind does not cooperate with my hair, so you can only imagine how excited I was to see the end result of these photos. The wind worked like Beyonce’s wind machine and not like a violent twister as per usual. Score!

I had a few meetings during my trip to New York, including this one at Tip or Skip, and I chose to be a little business-y in my dress. I swiped a blazer from Jessie’s closet, threw on a top from Mikkat Market, black skinnies, and my favorite Ash Shoes. Business in the front, party all around!

J’adore Kara Ross

The Kara Ross preview was amazing to say the least. Refreshingly off-site [read: not at Lincoln Center] in a suite overlooking Central Park West, the venue was comfy and welcoming. Guests were invited to snack on a spread of tasty treats and browse Kara’s bags and jewelry at their leisure. Talk about my kind of party! My personal favorites were the black and gold chain link pieces. Click ‘Read More” to see the rest of the photos!

Delicious

I stopped at one of Veronica’s favorite shops with my mom to browse. Because I’m always ready to snap a photo these days I ended up capturing a few items that caught my eye, they were delicious. I’ll refer to the next few pics as “candy”.

Yum.

Welllllll….you’ve probably noticed that I revamped the look AND the name of this little blog. I explained the name change here and it was just time for a makeover. You’ll probably notice the drawing from Kara, who profiled me as her Blogger of the Month back in August! Hope you like it!

The Jewelry Collaboration We All Want to Wear

If you’ve been reading for awhile, you know I’m obsessed with Closet Rich. I interviewed the founder Elizabeth Kott as soon as it launched, we met up during New York Fashion Week, and I’ve been stalking the site faithfully since this summer. It’s awesome watching a business grow, and I was super excited when Elizabeth announced the launch of their first super cute exclusive product collaboration with Bones and Feathers Collective: the Simple Snake Necklace.

Statement Jewelry You’ll Want to Wear

You’re so fine you blow my mind, hey Micky! Sorry I couldn’t resist…

I visited the Micky London showroom this week along with some of the other NYC Fashion Bloggers. Most of their collection consisted of their signature printed and jewelry scarves, but I was immediately drawn to the assortment of jewelry. There was such a variety of bright, bold colors— so naturally I got all snap happy.

Plenty of options for stacking. Right?

Wear It Your Way: Simone

For this edition of Wear It Your Way, I asked Simone a blogger pal of mine to participate! We met in February and I was glad I had the chance to visit her before she moved to San Francisco. She’s a great girl, who loves supporting great causes and I knew I had to approach her when I started the Wear It Your Way series.

1. Why did you choose the item?
I’ve been excited about Emergy ever since Ashley told me about it.  I love how the pieces from this collection are made by Rwandan women; I like all the jewelry I buy to have a story behind it and if it helps empower a community or an artist, that’s even better!  It took me forever to decide on a piece… I wanted them all!  Ultimately, I chose this necklace because it’s delicate but still makes a statement and because I need more color in my wardrobe.

2. Why did you pair it with this outfit?
During summer, I live in easy basics like this jersey dress with silk paneling from J. Crew. They’re comfortable and keep me cool, but I get bored with my summer wardrobe very quickly. Standout accessories like my Emergy necklace and my electric blue Clare Vivier clutch are a great way to breathe life into a tired wardrobe, and I like the way the green of the necklace pops against all the neutrals in my outfit.  The clutch is kind of difficult to pair with other accessories, so I needed jewelry that would work with it rather than fight against it.  This necklace does the trick!

3. Describe your style:
My style is very eclectic; I’ll wear a fluffy tulle skirt and pearls one day and a ratty t-shirt with skinny jeans, a giant scarf and a cashmere boyfriend cardigan the next.  As a young professional fresh out of college, my clothing budget is pretty tiny; I need to get a lot of mileage out of my clothes.  This means that I wear a lot of neutrals and use my accessories to make my outfits interesting.  As I mentioned in the first question, I like my jewelry to tell a story or have meaning behind it.  I get a lot of my jewelry when I travel or from companies like Emergy that work with artisans and smaller designers.  I also like to wear a lot of my mom’s old jewelry.  She was a kind of a hippie in the 70’s and her style is still very bohemian, so she has a lot of great pieces.  Since I moved from New York back to the Bay Area, I’ve really embraced that sort of easy California style that is chic, but casual and not super trendy.

How adorable is Simone’s puppy, Olive???
